We hope you will find FBC to be friendly and inviting. We are by no means a perfect church, but we do serve a perfect Savior. It is our mission to make much of Jesus every time we gather as a faith family. Part of that is welcoming our guests with open arms and smiling faces. We would be honored to have you join us! Here are some things that might help with your visit.
Cleaning for Covid-19
Each week, we have our facility professionally cleaned and sanitized to kill viruses such as Covid-19.
Parking
We have parking that surrounds the church, so feel free to park anywhere. We do have designated senior adult and handicap parking. Visitors are encouraged to park on the Gillen Dr. side of the facility (south side). Passengers can be dropped off under one of our covered entryways. As you enter through one of those doors, you will be greeted by someone that can assist you. The Welcome Desk is directly outside the Worship Center doors and the adjacent foyer has comfortable seating areas and hot coffee.
Dress
COME AS YOU ARE! We have a lot of diversity of dress at FBC Sparta. You will see some people in suits, others in jeans and a tee shirt, and anything in between. God is most concerned with the attitude of our heart. We believe diversity of dress is a beautiful picture of the power of the Gospel to unite a diverse group of people!
Sunday School
We have classes for all ages – babies through senior adults. As you arrive, please a greeter will gladly assist you with directions to our various classes. Sunday School is from 9:15 AM—10:15 AM.
Nursery
Our nursery & children’s area is clean and well-staffed. All of our volunteers have been background approved, & we have specific nursery and children’s area policies and procedures. One of our greeters will gladly direct you to our children’s area. Upon arrival, you will check your child in and leave contact information for workers to contact you, if needed. There are age-appropriate classes for your children during our Sunday School hour and our morning worship service. Children 0-3 years of age are welcome to stay in our nursery during the worship service.
Kid's Ministry
There are age-appropriate classes for your children during our Sunday School hour and our morning worship service. Ages 4 years (potty trained) –3rd grade will worship with their families through the first half of the service and attend Children’s church during the sermon & response time. After the special music and before the sermon (about 11:25 AM), the children will make their way down to the front of the worship center on the organ side & will exit with leaders. They will have children’s church in the fellowship hall, where parents/guardians must pick them up at the end of the service. The goal is for the children to actively engage in the worship service at the age where that is possible, so parents should discern when that age is for their respective child. Children are welcome in our service and are viewed as a blessing from the Lord.
Worship Style
Our worship is intentionally “blended”. We typically have a choir, organ, piano and various instrumentalists. Occasionally, we lead with a worship band and guitars, and frequently we have various styles represented in music specials. We sing gospel-centered songs (hymns and praise songs), with attention that God is our targeted audience. FBC Sparta is a generationally diverse congregation. Our desire is that everyone to be engaged in worship, because they are affected by the truth that is being sung. Also, FBC leadership believes that checking our preferences for the sake of others is continual Biblical principle being taught in the New Testament. We believe that truth trumps style and that various genres of music should reflect the truth that we are singing and emphasize different attributes of God. So in short, if it’s gospel-centered … we sing it!
Bible Centered & Gospel Centered
We want Christ and His Word to be central in our services – Christ is central and the Bible is His word. Therefore, the Word of God is the source and power of all of our teaching, preaching, and ministry.
Visitor Information & Welcome Center
If you are visiting for the first time in a while, please fill out a connect card and place it in the offering basket as you exit the sanctuary. You may also want to stop by the welcome center, located in the main church foyer. We have greeters that will be there to welcome you, answer questions and to give you a gift on behalf of our church. One of our Pastors will be at the Welcome Center after the service and would love the opportunity to meet you!
